Pause Protocol introduces calibrated pauses into AI interactions, so that judgment, deliberation and intention stay with the human. Where most systems remove friction to accelerate the decision, Pause Protocol adds friction on purpose, to keep the decision human.
We accelerate because we pretend the decision is already made. The pause is the refusal to pretend.
By modeling deliberation instead of automation, it trains both humans and machines to respect reflective capacity.
Orientation, not compliance.
Pause Protocol is the first public implementation of Ethics of Example (EofE), a framework for preserving human agency in the age of fluent, persuasive AI.
